During the last days i’ve been playing around with tumblr, a miniblog service that is something between a real blog and twitter. There are thousands of tumblogs out there, many of them devoted to photography, fashion and other cool stuff i like. I’m having a lot of fun surfing the tumblrverse and finding inspiering new photos from artists that are more talented than me and to share them with the world anybody who’s interested. I’m also trying to pull in my flickr favorites, but tumblr still seems to have some issues with importing rss feeds, because except for one item, nothing has been imported yet. Nevertheless, I discovered some really good stuff, so if you want to, you might check it out (sometimes nsfw).

And just to make this clear: none of the photos shown on rebelreflex.tumblr.com (if not other stated) are mine! I credit the authors by a clickthrough link and/or a link to the source at best knowledge and belief. If there should be any photo that you do not want to be shown on my tumblr, just let me know and I will remove it immediately.

And for the social web enthusiasts: as you already might have notived, my tumblr posts are also published on twitter, but I think you people over there can handle it.

Another nice feature comes with the tumblog: you can now (anonymously) ask me questions about anything you want to know, answers will be published on the tumblog.

Just to let you know, there is now a Facebook page for this blog. So if you’re signed in to Facebook, you can follow this blog with one click and new articles will show up in your newsfeed. This is a very simple way to stay connected to this blog without any rss hacks or other nerdy stuff. Next step is to get at least 25 “Fans” on the new Facebook-page, so that I get the permission to register a real username like facebook.com/rebelreflex. So, come on people, and tell your friends! ;)

Besides that, I have installed the famous Facebook “Like” button at the end of each blog post, so you can show your friends what you think about the articles with just one click. Still, the button plugin seems a little bit buggy to me, so I’ll keep testing it. Maybe you could give me a little feedback if it worked for you…

Last but not least, I’ve implemented some fancy social network icons up in the sidebar which make it easier to follow this blog on Facebook, flickr, twitter or via rss. You might ask why this blog needs all this fancy Facebook stuff, and the answer surely is: it doesn’t. But on the other hand, it would be nice to get to know my readers a little better, and in the end I’m just doing it because I can. Simple as that. Thank you for your attention.

(Fast) pünktlich zum einjährigen Jubiläum von rebelreflex.de erstahlt die Seite in neuem Glanz. Abgespeckt, minimalistisch, reduced to the max. Den ganzen Krimskrams weg, der das alte Blog nicht nur optisch sondern auch in Bezug auf seine Ladezeiten überfrachtet hatte. Natürlich ist das ganze wie immer noch total beta und so, aber im Groben und Ganzen ist das jetzt auf jeden Fall mal der Look für 2010. Die vielleicht wichtigste Neuerung ist aber nicht das Design dieses Blogs, sondern das neue Portfolio/Photoblog/Whatever, das ab sofort anstelle dieses Blogs die zentrale “Publikationsstelle” für meine Fotos ist und diese somit stärker ins Zentrum der Webseite stellt.

Mehrere Dinge haben mich zu diesem Schritt bewegt. Zunächst, wie schon gesagt, war mir das Blog zu überfrachtet, ein Haufen Javascripte, die ständig geladen werden mussten, genauso wie das Abrufen der Fotos von flickr, das insgesamt einfach zu lange gedauert hat. Außerdem war das Design irgendwie nie so richtig ausgegoren, das Logo/Headline zu mächtig, und irgendwie hat auch niemand kapiert, dass dieser ominöse schwarze Balken am Kopf der Seite die Navigationsleiste hatte sein sollen. Das ganze ist jetzt einfach übersichtlicher, sauberer und hoffentlich auch ein bisschen schneller.

Gleichzeitig ergibt sich daraus eine gute Gelegenheit, ein bisschen die inhaltliche Ausrichtung dieses Blogs zu verändern. Es wird weiterhin hauptsächlich um Fotografie gehen, aber der Fokus soll ein wenig verschoben werden. Weg von der eigenen Nabelschau, raus in die unendlichen Weiten des World Wide Web (und vielleicht noch weiter). Da draußen gibt es jede Menge Leute, die unglaubliche kreative Leistungen bringen und die mich selbst immer wieder von Neuem dazu motivieren, mit dieser Sache, diesem Fotodings, weiterzumachen. Und irgendwie will ich das stärker in diesem Blog wiederspiegeln. Wie das ganze am Ende aussehen wird, weiß ich auch noch nicht, und ich will jetzt auch nicht zuviel versprechen. Ich kenne meine Bloggewohnheiten inzwischen ganz gut. Mal würde ich am liebsten 27.ooo Artikel gleichzeitig raushauen und dann kommt wieder wochenlang gar nichts mehr. Außerdem habe ich natürlich auch noch ein reallife, das derzeit in Paris stattfindet und ziemlich viel Zeit in Anspruch nimmt, und auch danach werde ich mit Studium und Job(s) wohl ziemlich ausgelastet sein.

Nichts desto trotz, mir gefällt das neue Design und ich hoffe euch auch.
