Sie gehörten zu den dekorativen Highlights der diesjährigen Fusion – die leuchtenden Würfel auf der Tanzwiese. Zunächst dachte ich, es handele sich wieder einmal um eine weitere der unzähligen kreativen und genialen Dekoinstallationen, die jedes Jahr das Festivalgelände zu einem ganz besonderen Erlebnis werden lassen. Doch eben stolpere ich bei urabnartcore auf einen Artikel über Modularbeat, den Köpfen hinter den Würfeln:

Do you know “Kubik”? It’s a mobile, luminous, open-air club, designed by the creative minds of Modulorbeat, a German architecture and Design group.

It depends on a so called “Big Tanks” concept, what makes it possible to build a spatial, illuminated, temporary installation of large tanks, in which there are lights that can light up by the rhythm of the beat. Each tank can be controlled individually.

In summer of 2006, the installation was realized for the first time as “Kubik Berlin Open-Air Club” on a vacant lot near the Spree. But also in Barcelona and Milan, the impressive club was already on the ground.
